Luminal Fleet

Finally...

10% of royalties from this NFT collection go to the Luminal Genesis holder fund.

A few weeks from now, you’ll be able to access a new section of the Luminal website; The Shipyard. Now before anyone asks what boats have to do with a space-themed NFT project, I do of course mean starships.

From this website, you’ll be able to spend your Luminal Credits to create a starship NFT, piece by piece. This means you pick the core, the engines, the weapons, the colours.

The artwork will be done by myself & Parameta (The Llamaverse artists), and I’ll be going back to one of my favourite art styles; pixel art. There are a lot of reasons for this decision that go beyond stylistic choice. This NFT will be usable in the next phase of the Luminal project, and pixel art works perfectly for how these will be implemented.

We haven’t determined the exact species distribution yet, but we will be limiting the number of Draal/AI/Sil ships so that they’re proportionate to the rarity of these races in the Universe and Genesis collections. We’ll announce how we’re going to do this at a later date.

Take a look at the quick mock-up below (noting that it is a really rough version and by no means will it look this basic).

On the left, there are a series of modules you can select from to customize/build your starship. In the centre, a preview window showing you the image of how your ship will look in real time (layer by layer). On the right, you’re able to name your ship (and of course mint it using the LC in your wallet).

A basic ship will cost you 1 LC (Luminal Credit); that’s the cost of most of the ship’s cores.

In each sub module (Scanner, Engines etc), there will be roughly 5–6 free options which cost 0 LC. This means that even if you only have 1 LC in total, you can still build a fully functional and unique ship. You can also select from a range of 0 cost colour schemes for a truly unique ship. If, however, you wish to build a larger and more powerful ship, you’ll have the option of spending more credits (up to a maximum of 12 LC ).

BUT that’s not all.

The ship you generate will always have a ‘Luminal Credit Value’, equivalent to its cost to build. So as part of your ship’s metadata will be its value in LC. If you mint a ship for 1 LC and you want to upgrade it in the future, you’ll have 2 options:

  1. Buy another LC NFT from secondary market (if they haven’t all been used)

  2. 2. If no LC NFTs are available, buy a ship and ‘SALVAGE’ it.

That’s right, you can buy someone’s ship from Opensea, salvage it and convert it back into its Luminal Credits value to spend on upgrading your own ship in the shipyard. You can do this whenever you like.

This way, there will always be 600 credits in circulation, but the number of ships can vary. As with Luminal Universe NFTs, you’ll be able to NAME your ship, and these will be viewable in the game world (more details to follow).

So what are the ships to be used for?
